Setting Assembly Baselines
Once an assembly is in a semi-completed state, multiple groups of users can begin to track changes to the assembly structure and content by comparing it to a baseline. It also enables an assembly group and publishing group to synchronize changes to the assembly with an external publishing application.
When you set the baseline, you are taking a picture of the assembly as it exists at that point in time and using it as the basis for tracking changes. All changes made to the assembly from that point onward can be compared to the baseline. When the current assembly outline becomes the new baseline, the existing baseline for that version is erased.
