Delete Entities
Administrative privileges are required to delete some entities. In some instances, users with the appropriate permissions can also delete entities. The following table defines deletion guidelines.
| Entity | Guidelines |
|---|---|
| Application | An administrator can delete an application regardless of whether other entities (events, sequences, registrations, tasks, references or notifications) are associated with it. If any of these entities are associated with an application, they are also deleted. A user can delete only an application that has no entities associated with it. |
| Event | Only an administrator can delete an event that has no associated entities (product detail sets, sequences, tasks, references or notifications). If an event is associated with a PDS or a sequence, or tasks, references, or notifications are associated with the event, you must first delete those entities. Then you can delete the event. |
| Notification | An administrator can delete a global notification and any notification created by a user. A user may delete only notifications he or she created. |
| Product | Only an administrator can delete a product that has no entities associated with it (PDSs, tasks, references or notifications). If a product is associated with a PDS, or tasks, references or notifications are associated with the product, you must first delete those entities. Then you can delete the product. |
| Product family | An administrator can delete a product family regardless of whether other entities (products, applications, tasks, references or notifications) are associated with it. If any of these entities are associated with a product family, they are also deleted. A user can delete a product family only if it has no entities associated with it. |
| Projected status date | Only an administrator can delete a projected status date for an event, sequence or task. |
| Reference | An administrator can delete a reference created by any user. A user may delete only references he or she created. |
| Registration | An administrator or a user can delete a registration that has no entities associated with it (tasks, references, notifications). If a registration has tasks, references or notifications associated with it, you must first delete those entities. Then you can delete the registration. |
| Sequence | An administrator or a user can delete a sequence that has no entities (assemblies, tasks, references or notifications) associated with it. If a sequence is associated with an assembly, or tasks, references, or notifications are associated with the sequence, you must first delete those entities. Then you can delete the sequence. |
| Tasks and sub-tasks | Only an administrator can delete a task or sub-task created by any user. A user may delete only tasks or sub-tasks he or she created. |
