Active Ingredients for Components
The active ingredients for a product are tracked at the component level, including the strength measures of the active ingredients. A component may contain none, one or many active ingredients. For example, a product may have an inert component with no active ingredients.
When you define active ingredients for the components of a product, you are limited to the active ingredients that were defined at the product family level.
The following rules determine whether you can associate an active ingredient with a component:
- You must have the same user privileges as needed for adding a product.
- The component type must be pharmaceutical, pharmaceutical-medical device or veterinary, and the product family type for the associated product family must also be flu vaccine, pharmaceutical, pharmaceutical-medical device, or veterinary.
- You can have the same active ingredients in multiple components for the same product.
- After all the active ingredients associated with the related product family are associated with a component, you cannot associate more active ingredients to that component.
- You cannot associate active ingredients with a component once a PDS template or application is associated with the product.
