Administrator Console - User Management Options

You can choose an installation that will use an existing directory server on your network, using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). This lets users access the system using their existing network username and password.

User properties are provided from the LDAP directory.  A variation of this is LDAP Authentication Only whereby the user is authenticated against LDAP in order to gain access to the software, but once authenticated the user groups within the database will be used to determine access.  Alternatively, you can choose to manage users directly within Calyx RIM Viewing using the Non-LDAP (Database) option. With this option, you use the Administrator console interface to manage user properties and associated system properties.

Your choice of authentication method determines the management features that are available in the Administrator console interface. Using LDAP for authentication makes several of the management features of the Administrator console unnecessary. Any option that does not apply to your method of authentication is automatically disabled in the Administrator console interfaces.
