Vertical Clustering for Performance Improvement
Clustering is the architectural design which combines or interconnects two or more servers to work as a single entity. There are two types of clustering:
- Horizontal clustering
- Vertical clustering
To improve the performance of Calyx RIM Viewing, it is recommended to use the Vertical clustering installation. In a Vertical clustering installation, two or more application servers are installed on a single physical machine. In this type of installation, the system constantly looks for the idle resources and assigns tasks efficiently, thereby improving the performance of Calyx RIM Viewing.
From the following sections, perform the configuration and installation procedures relevant to your environment for an effective Vertical Clustering setup:
- JRE/JDK installation
- Apache HTTP server installation
- Apache web server configuration with Tomcat instances
- Apache configuration for HTTPS
