Redaction Options

Options Description
Create backup copy of original PDF Use this option to make a copy of the document prior to the redaction changes you make. A sub folder is created which contains this original PDF. By default, this option is selected.
Warning: You cannot undo changes that you apply. You must create a backup prior to applying the changes in order to revert to the original copy.
Current Page Select this option to use Redaction on the current page of the source document.
All Pages Select this option to use Redaction on all pages in the source document.
Load Active Document Use this option to load the currently active document in Acrobat.
Pages Select this option to use Redaction on a desired range of pages in the source document. In the adjacent boxes, enter the first and last page numbers of the desired page range.
Redact Using Select this option to redact text or images from the source document. Click the color palette box next to Redact Using to select a redaction color. The color palette window appears. Click on the desired color or select Custom to choose an additional color from the custom color window. The method by which you choose to redact, will be indicated by the color that you select. For example, if you select the By Region method, and choose the color green, the green color indicates the region that you chose to redact.
By Region Select this option to redact a desired region of the document. By Region is selected by default.

Click Select Region to open the selection tool used to drag a box around the desired region of the document. When the Redaction window re-opens select the Inside option to redact the inside of the selected region or select the Outside option to redact the outside of the selected region. Click the Apply button to redact the selected region.

Whole Page Select this option to redact the entire page or replace the text in the page with the character you want. Click Whole Page.

Type the alpha numeric character you want to replace all the other characters throughout the page in the text box provided and click on Apply. If you do not use any alpha numeric character, the text and images in the page will be replaced with the color you choose under the Action option. For example, if you select the letter "x," and the color green is selected, all text on the page will be replaced with "x." The selected color will not have any effect on the document. However, if you do not provide a character, all text on the page will be replaced with the color green.

When using fonts that do not have the specified symbols, the selected text will be replaced by spaces.

Find and Redact Click this option to redact using a keyword. The Keyword box opens.

Enter a keyword and Click Find Next to highlight the keyword in the document. Click Redact to redact the selected keyword on the selected page. Each subsequent click of the Redact button will redact the next instance of the keyword. Each subsequent click of the Find Next button will highlight the next instance of the keyword. Click Redact All to redact all instances of the keyword on the page(s) selected.

By Keyword Click this option to redact multiple keywords. The Keyword box opens.

Enter a keyword (or partial keyword) and click the Add button to add each keyword entered. Click Apply to redact all listed keywords (and all words containing the listed partial keywords) from the selected pages of the source document. Click Delete to remove a keyword (or partial keyword) from the list of keywords. Click Clear to remove all keywords (or partial keywords) from the list.

To save a list of keywords to be used later, click the browse button corresponding to the Save Keywords option. Provide a name and location to the file and click Save. To append the keywords to an existing file, select the option Append Existing. To load keywords saved in a file, click Load Keywords, select the file and click Open.

Help Click on the Help icon to open the online user documentation.
Close Click to close the Redaction window.
