Use the Clone Bookmarks tool to clone and unclone bookmarks from a currently active PDF document (source) to multiple PDF documents (target).
It is especially helpful when bookmarks in multiple documents that provide access to a single main document or set of documents are necessary (e.g., a main Table of Contents). The destination path of the cloned bookmark is automatically recalculated based on the target file location and the destination of the bookmark action item. This means that the destination path of the bookmark in the target document is always relative.
To create clone bookmarks:
-
Open the PDF file which contains the bookmarks which you want to clone.
-
Select
.
The
Clone/Unclone window opens.
-
Under
Bookmarks tab, select/check the necessary bookmarks from the list. To select all the bookmarks, click
Select All.
-
Select the necessary options under
Clone Settings and
Clone Location.
-
Select the
Target PDF Files tab, use one of the following options to load document(s):
- Add Folder. To add all files from sub-folders within the selected folder, select the
Include Subfolder option in the Browse for Folder window. Use this option to add an entire library of PDF files.
- Add File(s).
-
Click on
Clone.
Note: Depending upon your version of Adobe Acrobat and the settings you establish within it, if a source document is open and you open a different document, a message indicates that the source document has changed. This message appears only to ensure you are aware that the tool is now referring to a source document that differs from the original. It does not signify that the source document has been modified.
