Unlinked Text

Use the Unlinked Text tool to automate the process of searching text that is not a link.

This tool helps you to review the document ensuring the appropriate links are in place. It allows you to search for a text in a specific color and text in the Table of Contents. The system will highlight the text that is not a link, according to the criteria that you define. When a link to a text is removed intentionally or unintentionally and the text color continues to be blue, the Unlinked Text tool will find this by letting you know the text is no longer a link.

To use Unlinked Text:

  1. Select SmartDesk > Link and Bookmark > Link Tools > Unlinked Text.
The active document is loaded by default.
  2. To use the currently active document in Acrobat, click Load Active Document. Move to step 4.
  3. To select another document click the ellipses/browse button next to the Source Document field. Navigate to the desired file and click OK to close the window and add the document to the Unlinked Text window.
This opens the Select File window.
  4. Use the necessary Page Range and Search Criteria options.
  5. Click on Find.
Note: Depending upon your version of Adobe Acrobat and the settings you establish within it, if a source document is open and you open a different document, a message displays indicating that the source document has changed. This message appears only to ensure you are aware that the tool is now referring to a source document that differs from the original. It does not signify that the source document has been modified.
