Delete Bookmarks

Use the Delete Bookmarks tool to automate the deletion of bookmarks from one or more PDF files.

To delete bookmarks using the Delete Bookmarks tool:

  1. Select SmartDesk > Link and Bookmark Tools > Bookmark Tools > Delete Bookmarks.
  2. Select the document(s) using one of the following options to delete links in it:
    • Load Active Document - Use this option to load the currently active document in Acrobat.
    • Select Document(s) - Use this option to load one or more files.
    • Select Folder(s) - Use this option to load all files in a folder. To add all files from sub-folders within the selected folder, select the Include Subfolder option in the Browse for Folder window. Use this option to add an entire library of PDF files.
Note: By default, the document path is displayed in the source document field, if the active document is present.
  3. To make a copy of the document prior to the delete bookmark changes you make.
Note: When this option is selected, a sub folder is created which contains the original PDF. By default, this option is selected.
Warning: You cannot undo changes that you apply. You must create a backup prior to applying the changes in order to revert to the original copy.
  4. Click Delete to delete the bookmarks from the selected file(s).
  5. After deleting bookmarks, a confirmation message is displayed. Click OK to close the message.
Note: Depending upon your version of Adobe Acrobat and the settings you establish within it, if a source document is open and you open a different document, a message indicates that the source document has changed. This message appears only to ensure you are aware that the tool is now referring to a source document that differs from the original. It does not signify that the source document has been modified.
