Split Options
| Option | Description |

| Load Active Document | Select Load Active Document to load the active document. This option lets you immediately load the document that is being worked on. The file is added to the "PDF File to Process" section. |
| Add File(s) | Click Add File(s) to select all the source file. Select a file from the Select File window that opens and click Open. The selected source file is added to the Split Information frame. Selecting the source file row makes the Output File(s), By Bookmark, By E3 Headings and By Batch buttons available. To add multiple files simultaneously, press and hold the Ctrl key and select the required files by clicking on them using the mouse and click on Add File(s). |
| Add Folder | Click Add Folder to select all the files from the folder. Select a folder from the Browse for Folder window that opens and click Open. All files from the selected folder are added to Split Information frame. Selecting the source file row makes the By Batch buttons available. To add the sub-folders, select the option Include Sub Folders. |
| Remove File(s) | To remove the file, select the desired source file row and click Remove File(s). You can also remove multiple files simultaneously. To remove multiple files simultaneously, press and hold the Ctrl key and select the required files by clicking on them using the mouse and click on Remove File(s) |
| Remove All | To remove all files in the Split Information Frame and click Remove All. |
| View PDF | Click View PDF to view the selected PDF file. |
| View Log File | Click View Log File to view the log files. |
| By Batch | Click this button to split all files in the folder by a specified bookmark title heading. By default, multiple source files that are split will be saved in a granular folder. Click By Batch to open the split-Batch Process window. The batch process is performed based on E3 Headings. Refer to By E3 Headings for more information. |
| Close | Click Close to save all settings and close the Split window. |
| Add Output File | Click this button to add a default destination file as a place holder in the same input folder location. By default, the destination file name is the name of the source file with a "-1" added to it, and the default page range includes all pages. Select the page range to change it. Select the same source file row and click Add Output File a second time to add another destination file row. By default, the destination file name is the name of the source file with a "-2" added to it, and the default page range defaults to the total pages. The number included in the name of each new destination file added for the same source file will be one greater than the file before it. |
| Bookmark Level |
Click this button to split the source file by a specified bookmark level. Each occurrence that the selected bookmark level will be split into its own file. Select the source file row and click By Bookmark to open the Bookmark Level window. Click the Bookmark Level drop down menu, select the bookmark level, and click OK. Each occurrence of the selected bookmarks level is listed as new output file. |
| Bookmark Name | Click this button to split the source file based on the destination page of the bookmarks. When the source document is split, it is divided into two documents; The first document will consist of all the pages till the destination page of the bookmark you select and the second document will consist of the rest of the pages. |
| By E3 Headings | Click this button to split the CSR files into eCTD ready files. Select the source file row and click By E3 Headings. By default the split output files will be stored in a granular folder. Based on the CSR requirements, the splitter will split the source file into the separate files for each study. For CSR Splitter a single input file will be used and to add the CSR Splitter file to the Split tools, select the Add File button or click the Load Active Document button. If output files are not generated for a key, the error message will appear. |
| Bookmarks | When this option is selected, all bookmarks from the source PDF file will be added to destination PDF file(s) and are remapped to go to corresponding pages in the destination PDF file(s). The bookmark level will not be changed in the destination file(s). |
| Links | When this option is selected, all links in the source PDF file will be added to destination PDF file(s) and are remapped to go to corresponding pages in the destination PDF file(s). |
| Split |
Click this button to start the split process. A message at the bottom of the dialog will show processing information. Once the process is complete, a message is displayed. Note: When you split a PDF document which is of lower version, the split documents are automatically converted to the latest version. For example, if you split a PDF document of version 1.4 or 1.5, the split documents are converted to the latest version of PDF such as 1.6.

| Log File | Split log file is located in the ezSplit.log file. By default, a log file is created at the C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Liquent\SmartDesk\ezSplitMerge\ezSplit.log. You will have the option to select a different location by clicking the ellipses button next to the Log file Location field. In the Select File window that opens, navigate to the folder location and designate a file name to save the log files. |
| Append if exists | Select this option to add the current activity information to the existing log file. If this option is not selected, the existing log file will be replaced with the new log file if the specified file name and folder location are the same. |
