Product Family Types and Component Types
You can create product family type names or product component names and map them to existing entity types that are defined in XML.
Calyx RIM ships with the following entity type XMLs:
- Pharmaceutical
- Medical devices
- A pharmaceutical-medical devices combination
- Veterinary
- Flu Vaccine
These entity XMLs determine which attributes are presented on the screen when creating product families and product components. There is no limit to the number of types you can create.
Note: Active ingredients for products are initially defined at the product family level. To track active ingredients, the product family must be associated with the pharmaceutical, pharmaceutical-medical devices combination, or veterinary entity type. You cannot define active ingredients for products belonging to a medical device-only product family.
