Prerequisites

You must have an existing assembly template to create a new assembly.

To create an assembly by importing an assembly template:

  1. Navigate to the Assembly tab.
  2. Click Create Assembly.
  3. Choose an appropriate option:
    Option Description
    Existing Template, Assembly or View Creates a new assembly from an existing template or assembly, or from a current or active view.
    Assembly File Creates a new assembly from an assembly or view that has been exported as an XML file.
    Virtual Document Creates a new assembly from a Documentum virtual document.
  4. Choose an appropriate option from below and perform the corresponding steps under Description for publishing settings library.

    1. Click Browse to find and select the template, assembly, or view using the Search Assembly Wizard.
    2. On the Search Options window, choose an assembly type from the Assembly Type to Search list, and click Next.
    3. On the Сhoose Assembly window, use Search to find an assembly, or you can choose an assembly from one of the other tabs: Assembly Templates, Standalone AssembliesSequence Assemblies, or Views.
    4. Select an assembly and click OK.
    5. Choose a Use Source Assembly Publishing Settings Library option:

      — Yes - the new assembly inherits the Publishing Settings Library used in the source assembly template that you have selected.

      • Choose a Import Publishing Elements option:

      ■ Yes - the new assembly will use the publishing elements that the source assembly uses.

      ■ No - the new assembly will not use the publishing elements that the source assembly uses.

      — No - select a PLT from the Publishing Settings Library field that appears when you choose No.

    6. In the Retarget Copied Reference Leafs field, set the option for reference leafs:

    — Retarget Copied Reference Leafs - select this option to retarget the reference links copied from the source assembly template to link to their targets in the new assembly. If the Reference Leaf points to a leaf that is also part of the import, the Reference Leaf will be updated to the copied target instead of the source assembly template. If the Reference Leaf points to a leaf that was not included in the import, but a leaf in the target assembly matches the source assembly and was created from the same template, then the leaf will be retargeted.

    — Preserve Copied Reference Leafs - select this option preserve the destinations of links in the reference leafs that are copied to the assembly that you create.

    1. To find the assembly template file, click Browse and do one of the following:

      — On the Documents tab, navigate to the assembly template file and click OK. — On the Search tab, find the assembly file and click OK.

    2. Choose a Use Source Assembly Publishing Settings Library option:

    — Yes - the new assembly inherits the Publishing Settings Library used in the source assembly template that you have selected.

    • Choose a Import Publishing Elements option:

    ■ Yes - the new assembly will use the publishing elements that the source assembly uses.

    ■ No - the new assembly will not use the publishing elements that the source assembly uses.

    — No - select a PLT from the Publishing Settings Library field that appears when you choose No.

    Virtual

    Document

    1. To find the virtual document, click Browse and do either of the following:

      — On the Documents tab, navigate to the virtual document and click OK. — On the Search tab, find the virtual document and click OK.

    2. Click the publishing settings library to use with the assembly template.
  1. Click Save.
  2. On the Create Assembly page, specify the name of the assembly.
  3. Click Create.

    The assembly template is imported into the new assembly.

  4. On the Assembly Attributes page, select the Publishing Setting Library icon.
  5. On each settings page, modify the settings, if required, and click Save.
